From Pastor Heather | Jan 22
This week, we are transitioning in worship from the “Divine Details” series to “Imperfect People.” I want to thank you for all the positive feedback that I have gotten regarding the last series. I am so pleased that you enjoyed it. I have certainly enjoyed preaching it.
This “Imperfect People” series is a Bible study focus on the book of 1 Corinthians. We will be considering the people of the city of Corinth who are part of the church. Paul writes to them hoping to keep them on a path of faithfulness but they keep returning to their old ways. These imperfect people are much like us. We tend to get into trouble even when we know better.
Our confirmation class will be recruiting mentors again very soon. I used to be the one who made those phone calls. I was often surprised that people I admired as leaders of the church were people who also would tell me that they were not worthy to mentor anyone. It surprised me how much guilt and unworthiness that we carry around as people. Even though we know that we can go to God for forgiveness, it is often harder to forgive ourselves. But the reality is that we are all imperfect people. We live in the grace of the one who made us and loves us anyway.
I am very excited to say that this is the last week we will worship without Pastor Charla. She will be returning from her time of rest and renewal and stepping back in to preach on the 31st of January. I know that you have missed her like I have. Pastor Mark Rickman has been such a blessing to us and I have been so glad to have his help. I am also very excited about the plans that we are making for Lent. We have chosen the theme of “In The Garden” with a focus on the creator and the cycle of life leading to resurrection. Our discipleship team is working hard on ideas to help you connect in the season of Lent. Hannah and I will take you back to the ranch from last Easter and we will check on the baby cow that was born last year. I am looking forward to unveiling it all to you soon.
Blessings,
Pastor Heather
