Kindness Makes a Difference

A few weeks ago, the leadership and staff of the congregation presented Seungrok and I with fresh flowers and bouquets of thank you cards. It was an act of appreciation for us and I have loved reading the cards. I decided to only read one a day so that I could enjoy each card and give thanks for the person that wrote it. I say a prayer for each of you after reading your card. I am so thankful that I made the decision to open them slowly because the last few weeks have been really hard ones in our world. I confess on days when I was discouraged, I read two cards in the course of the day. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for all the kind and encouraging words that you have washed over my soul. As pastor appreciations go, it has been wonderful.

You may not know but our Staff Parish committee has been doing monthly appreciations for us all. Usually they are eatable gifts and devoured with laughter and joy. Recently Charlotte Langley left flowers and a card for Seungrok and I saying thank you for being her and Jerry’s pastors. All of these small acts of kindness have been so encouraging. I just wanted to say thank you and let you know how much these little acts of consideration have meant to me as your new pastor. We have an incredible team here at Faith and I am so thankful to work and worship alongside them.

This week almost everyone on our staff has worked a ten to twelve hour day alongside so many of our wonderful volunteers offering Vacation Bible School. By having it in the evening, we have enough people who can help after work. It was an amazing week filled with joyful music, fun crafts, Bible memory verses and a puppet! On Sunday our children will be singing one of the songs that they learned this week at the 11:00 service. I will be preaching from the Bible verse for the week as we consider what it means to put on the armor of God. Then at noon, we will gather in the Great Hall and celebrate Laura Eldridge and her incredible ministry here at Faith. What a day! I pray you will join us.

Thankful,
