The Official Start of Fall

I have enjoyed watching all the parents post pictures of their children on the first day of school on social media. It is amazing to look back at those photos and see how much they change in just one year. The older I get, the shorter the year seems. As we look towards fall we are hitting our celebratory season of the forty fifth anniversary. The Sunday dates from that first year perfectly align with this year. On September 3rd, it will be the anniversary of the first worship service ever. On November 12th, it will be the anniversary of Charter Sunday and the name “Faith.”

Janie Lampi, Mike Miller, Jonathon and I are working on setting up displays in the Chapel from Sept 3rd to Nov. 12th of the history of our congregation. It has been amazing to spend time in the archives of our church and I give thanks for June and Mike who have tended to our history so faithfully.

Also in September we are inviting all of the Men and Women to attend retreats. The Women’s retreat started before the pandemic and they go to Camp Egan every year for a time of rest, laughter and study. My mom usually goes and everyone thinks it is funny to watch us interact together. Women who are not members of the church are welcome to come with you. You must register by September 9th to hold your reservation for the weekend of Sept. 22nd. The Men are having a retreat for the very first time. They are going to Ron and Cynthia Hoffmans country acreage for two evenings. They are planning, fishing, games, music, fire and more. You also get to go home at night and sleep in your own bed. The Men’s retreat is in the evening of Sept 28th & 29th. I hope that you will attend and even invite a friend. Nothing is better than being out under the stars in the fall.

Next Wednesday, August 23rd is the beginning of many new classes. We have a Senior Movement group that helps gain balance. My Jesus in the Gospels class only has two spots left. The Bell Choir and the Chancel Choir resume rehearsals. We are also offering support groups for people in grief, parents of non-typical learners, and those who are caring for a loved one this fall. I encourage you to find a group to connect with and meet some new folks.

See you Sunday,

Faith Tulsa
