Christmas Quilters
I wanted to use this time to thank all of the members of our congregation who gifted us by making a quilt square for our Advent and Christmas seasons. We have two more Sundays before we are finished. This Sunday is our “Lessons and Laughter” Christmas Sunday designed for all ages at 10 am. Ms. Linda will be leading a children’s sermon, you will be invited to shout out things that bring you joy, you will be asked to talk to each other in church and we will put sticky notes on the walls for prayer. We have more children reading scripture and helping to lead worship. I am also excited that our music will be led by DeRon and Cali this Sunday. It should be filled with joy! And then we will fill our tummies with pancakes at our Baby Brunch in the Great Hall. You can find links to the baby registries on the Connect page of our website here.
Lena D. responded to my email to quilters asking for help in a significant way. Not only did she make a square, she made patterns for everyone and did the shopping of all the fabric. Then she put together packets for each week so that our volunteers would be successful. Then she made every square for the series so that we could pair them with the other squares and have enough to make a blanket to give away at the end. None of this would have been possible without her leadership. She is clearly passionate about quilting. Our other quilters in this series were Jean L., Jalynn O., Susanne G., Diana S. and Janet P. The last week in our series “Epiphany Sunday” the quilt square was sewn by our beloved retired pastor Erma. It has been a wonderful blessing to know how many hands used their gifts to bless our congregation on this visual element of worship. I also want to say thank you to all those who let us borrow one of their quilts to feature on the altar. I have already shared each of your stories in worship.
I pray each of you stay safe until we are together again. May the joy of the Christ child fill all our hearts with love.
