Serving & Giving

This Sunday we will be commissioning our Spring Break mission team as they return to Sunflower, Mississippi to serve in the poorest county in the US.  The team that went last year had an amazing time refurbishing homes and connecting with the residents.  You will be able to pick up a prayer card to take home and pray for them while they are representing Faith and spreading the love of Jesus.  

I also have a sign up sheet for ways that you can serve during Holy Week.  I need some folks to help me set up the prayer stations in the sanctuary.  The Awake Sunday school class will be providing volunteers for the raising of the cross on Good Friday but I need folks to help on that night in other areas.  And on Saturday, I need about 25 helpers to prepare the church for Easter morning.  Here is the link to sign up. 

At the end of this month, we will be changing our financial partners. We currently have 3 vendors that we work with for financial software and electronic giving.  The new vendor (ACS) will be able to do all of these things and save us over $5,000 a year.  You will notice on the Giving page of the website that it has changed. We are sorry for any inconvenience to you but we need each person to create an account with our new “Abundant” platform. Please be patient with us as we make this transition.  If you need help creating the new account, please call the church office.  This change will impact 20% of our annual budget so it is very important that we do it well.  Your newsletter will have lots of information coming about this change.

Lastly, I wanted to mention that we are now using the Leadership Team for the governance and accountability for the church.  If you have an idea or question for the Leadership Team, you can send it to me or Nikki F. to be added to the agenda.  Deadline dates for monthly agenda items are on the church calendar.  I am currently creating other teams to help with the ministry of Faith.  I need at least 4 more people to serve on a Funeral Team.  These folks will help me host the families and provide care when we have a death in the church.  I am also looking for creative artistic minds to serve on a Worship Design Team.  These volunteers will work with the worship staff to bring themes to life and create opportunities for deeper engagement in the scriptures.  Teams do not require a 3 year committment like our previous structure.  They can be for a season, a year or forever.  It depends on you and the time that you have to give.  Please email me if you would like to serve on either of these new teams.
