Leader Training | Sunday, September 29 | 12-3pm

In 2023, Faith United Methodist Church voted to restructure the operations of the church to the Simplified Accountable Structure called “Mission: Possible.” With this new structure, the goal was to be more effective and to release people from committee work to mission work. The new model is a single board model with a Nominations Team training and equipping people for effective leadership.

Teams will be created as needed for short term projects, but the Missions Team will continue to serve annually. Each person who volunteers to lead a team or serve on the Leadership Team signs a covenant of expectations. All adult volunteers who work with children, youth or vulnerable adults go through a background screening.

Those who wish to serve as future leaders are required to take a leadership class hosted by the Nominations Team. We encourage those who are already volunteering as leaders to sign up as well. We are excited about the intentionality of serving with this training. This class will go over the history of the congregation, offer training on this model of leadership, discover the operations of the organization and be equipped in strategies for effective leadership. Each leader will also be reminded of the mission, core values, strategy for growing disciples and measures in which we evaluate. The Nominations Team will be hosting the training session on Sunday, September 29 from 12-3pm.

Current Annual Teams:

Leadership Team: They drive the mission of the church, hold the staff accountable and do strategic work. It is a three year commitment.

Nominations Team: They identify, invite and train new leaders. They host the annual goal setting retreat for leaders and staff.

Missions Team: They act as liaisons between our missional partnerships and the congregation. They lead us in engaging the community and living out our mission of “inviting people to Christ-centered service.”

Hospitality Team: These servants volunteer once a month to provide support on Sunday mornings including greeting, ushering and welcoming. Each week has a team lead and four volunteers.

Short Term Teams:

Labyrinth Team: They are creating and fundraising for a new prayer labyrinth on the property.

Vacation Bible School: They recruit and plan for the annual Faith Kids VBS.

Funeral Team: As the need arises, they help host families who are grieving. This involves greeting and providing receptions.

Fall Festival: We are currently recruiting team members to host this new event in October.
