Christmas Eve
Faith, I look forward to a beautiful Christmas Eve with you this year. We’ll worship together at 6:00 pm, both online and in our sanctuary. Our worship service will include music from our choir, our praise band and singing of traditional hymns. We’ll be receiving Holy Communion and closing with candlelight (or glow sticks) while singing Silent Night. One special element to this year’s service is an activity book for kids following the scripture readings from the pulpit.
Holy Communion will also be available in the chapel from 4-6 pm prior to the worship service and from 7-8 pm after the service. This is an effort to reach those who’d rather not be in our sanctuary, but would still like to receive communion in our holy space. Communion servers will be ready to offer you the elements in the chapel. You may spend as much time in prayer both before and after you receive communion as you wish. You may also leave your Christmas Eve offering.
I celebrate that our Christmas Eve offering will support the Good Night, Sleep Tight ministry this year. Since its inception, this ministry has given away over 500 beds to kids and their families. You might ask how we find out about kids that need beds. Sometimes we hear from a DHS caseworker or a school counselor. Sometimes we receive a referral from you, members of our congregation. Todd and Jalynn Osborne have taken leadership of this ministry from the beginning and we are grateful for their heart for kids that need beds. The offering on Christmas Eve will support the ongoing work of Good Night, Sleep Tight in 2022.
On another note, I celebrate that Eleanor Schmidt will turn 100 years old on January 1st! Faith, can you send her a birthday card? Her mailing address is in our directory. Rather than put that information in a blog that lives on the internet, I’ll refer you to the directory. Let’s celebrate Eleanor’s milestone by blessing her with a card shower.
If you’re missing Pastor Talk this week, we hope to bring it back next week. You can see many previous episodes at this link on YouTube.
Looking forward to lighting the third Advent Candle with you on Sunday,
