Holy Week Details

Hello Faith,

I am currently preparing for you to join me for Holy Week!  It is right around the corner and we have been planning for months to host you and those who will join us for the very first time.  Tomorrow Janet Kennedy has organized our Spring cleaning All Church Work day where we will spruce up the gardens and deep clean the church in preparation for this important time in the life of the church.  We give thanks for Janet’s servant heart and for Bill Turner who mentored her into this task after serving for many years.  I plan on bringing donuts for the whole crew, so please join us 8:30ish until noon.

We start Holy Week on Palm Sunday with the children helping to lead our music at both services.  Then our Kid’s ministry is hosting our annual Easter Egg hunt at 3 pm.  I plan to be there with my grandson but I know he will try to eat the plastic eggs rather than hunt for more. :)

For many of us, we want to move from one celebration to the next without having to walk through the days of Jesus’ trial and death.  But it is important that we honor and remember these days and they teach us the significance of Easter. So I pray that you will join us for the Holy Week Experience (at a time of your choosing) either Wednesday or Thursday.  You can sign up here to help me set up on Monday or Tuesday.  Also, you can sign up here to reserve a time to walk through the prayer stations.  I am thankful for Drew Lyons and Mike Miller who helped me create these stations for you.

Good Friday service will be in the Sanctuary on Friday night at 7 pm.  This is a somber service of light and darkness.  One of the most powerful parts of this service is the nailing of our sins to the huge cross in the front of the church.  The sound of all those hammers is one you won’t soon forget -as we offer Jesus the very worst parts of ourselves.

As we finish these last few weeks of Lent, I want to say thank you for the incredible reception of my sermons.  This series has challenged us and pushed us to consider these events in a way that we have never done before.  I hope you found it as fulfilling as I did.

See you soon,
