Holy Spirit Works

My goodness, what a season as we celebrate the ministry of Greg and Kay Leslie who felt the move of the Holy Spirit to start a Bell Choir here at Faith twenty five years ago. This Sunday both of our services will be filled with the sounds of the bells for Greg’s final day as the Director and Kay’s final ringing of the bells. Not every church has a bell choir and we have been blessed by this ministry that they created in so many ways. Please join us for their reception in the Great Hall at noon!

Their ministry origins remind me that we have all been blessed with the nudging of the Holy Spirit in different ways. We are all called by God to use the gifts that we have been given. Here at Faith we have be blessed by people like Terry Jeppesen who hasn’t started a ministry but has given countless hours to keeping the property looking beautiful for many years. Another example would be Jim Hemphill who joined me every Sunday night to lead the youth group for seven years. And one of our newest members , Sandra Heywood who proclaimed that she loves to welcome and greet people! I could name people all day who go above and beyond for the Lord in and with our congregation. But that isn’t the point. The point is that we should all find a way to serve using the gifts that God has blessed us with. If you haven’t found your place, I encourage you to reach out to one of the pastors or Kendra Day at the Service Station.

The Holy Spirit has inspired me to start thinking about what is on the horizon for our congregation. Mike Miller and I have talked about how we are only a few years away from our 50th birthday. We are positioned so well in so many ways and I am so excited to see where God is leading. Today I had multiple conversations with people who are dreaming about exciting ways to be in ministry together. It is one of the favorite parts of my job. I want you to pray for the Holy Spirit to lead us to the next new things. Pray for our eyes and ears to be open to it’s leading. Pray that we are filled to overflowing with excitement and passion for what God is doing in us and through us.

I can’t wait to see what is next!
