Fall Faith Groups Begin
Next week all of our regular Wednesday night programming begins! We have learning and community planned for all ages. The children will meet for Bible Explorers and the youth will resume their worship and small groups. This year, even the adults have classes that they can chose from taught by one of the pastors. Pastor Kim is leading the Bible Study and discussion called “Multi Ethnic Conversations” for 8 weeks. We have offered this class previously taught by myself and then Ruth Storts and Percy Brown. Size is limited so email skim@faithtulsa.org if you want to be part of this group.
I am teaching a class for parents of teens for 8 weeks. During the February sexuality workshop, the parents asked for this class to be offered. I have a resource called “Surviving Adolescents” that we will be using along with my experience being a mother and youth director for over 20 years. Right now I have a dozen of the moms signed up but none of the Dads. I’m not sure why, but maybe the Dads have got it all figured out? You can signup for this class by emailing me at hscherer@faithtulsa.org
Also, we will launch new Zoom classes the first week of September for Disciple Bible study. These groups spend 24 weeks together reflecting on the daily Bible reading and exploring the meaning of the text. This is a great way to get to know some other people in the congregation. If you are new or simply wanting to deepen your faith, I encourage you to take this step in intentionality. You will not regret it as we explore together the book that shapes what we believe. Click here to sign up.
This Wednesday will also launch our Bell Choir under our new director Michael Utesch. They begin at 6:00 pm in the sanctuary. The choir is looking for voices to sing with them at 7 pm in the Chapel. And the Praise team rehearses in the sanctuary at 7:45 pm. Nursery is provided for the children who are too young to participate in the classes and for the parents involved somewhere else in the building.
Our current service project is to bless our teachers in the congregation with supplies for their classrooms. You can purchase supplies locally or order through our Amazon registry. See the Stay Connected page for more information.
Also, I am sending an email next week that will be focus on the unfolding debate in the United Methodist denomination. I just wanted to give you a heads up to look for it. It is simply an update and a response to rumors that I have brought to me in the last few weeks.
I look forward to worshiping with you on Sunday.
