3 Big Events in January

We are having an amazing month that just gets better! Last spring, I went to the Festival of Homiletics in Denver and we had a concert one night with this amazing Worship band called The Many .(Click the name of the band if you would like to look over their website.) I thought their messages of love and peace in their music was so awesome, that I bought the t-shirt. I came back telling Jonathon to look them up because I was so excited. Fast forward to December and Kurt Gwartney contacted me because Phillips Theological Seminary is having an event where they have invited The Many to lead worship and he asked if FAITH would host a concert for the community. Of course, I said yes! So on Thursday January 26th from 6:30-8 pm, I invite you to join us in the sanctuary for an awesome evening of praise and worship. I guarantee you will have a good time. The concert if totally FREE and I hope you will invite everyone you know to come.

Also, we have had many new families visiting the church over the last couple of months and we are hosting another Faith Welcome luncheon at noon on Jan. 22nd. Lunch is provided free of cost, there is an optional tour of all the nooks and crannies of the building and a chance to meet with staff and ask all your questions. We go over the missions and values of our congregation for all our guests and invite them to take the Faith Values class. If you would like to join us, please RSVP to me at here.

Lastly, we began a new 5th Sunday Pancake breakfast last year and it was a big hit. And January has a 5th Sunday! We need a few folks to help man the kitchen and some folks to bring breakfast casseroles to go with the pancakes. Please contact Kurt Lampi to help on the 29th at 10:00 am. You can find his information in the church directory.

Another wonderful thing happening in our congregation is the signing up of people to attend the Walk to Emmaus this spring. This spiritual retreat weekend is perfect for folks wanting to deepen their discernment and find clarity around where God is leading them. Our Faithful Families class has been leading the charge to sign people up and sponsoring them to attend. I am proud to serve as the pastor of a church that sees the value in this beautiful ministry. Stop by room 500 on Sunday if you would like to talk to someone about attending this event. If you can’t make this one, there will be another one offered in the fall.

If you weren’t in church last week, I encourage you to listen to the sermon from the 9:00 service. (I coughed several times in the 11:00 service and you don’t want to hear that.) We are beginning to DREAM Big Jesus sized dreams about the next 45 years in ministry at Faith. We are casting our eyes on the horizon and moving out of survival mode. I am so excited to see where God leads us. This Sunday I will be describing the characteristics of this type of Jesus dream. I hope you will join us!

Grace and peace,
