Company is Coming!

Twice a year, we ask the congregation to gather to help with deep cleaning and preparation for the seasons of Advent and Lent. This Saturday morning we are inviting everyone to join us for this important task. Jim Hemphill is leading us and he will divide us into the different areas of the building. Some of the things that we do are dusting the window sills, replacing ceiling tiles, cleaning toys and tables. I will be bringing donuts for breakfast and I am sure that someone will be making the coffee. It takes about fifty people to pull this off in a timely manner.

On Sunday after the last service, we are asking folks to stay after worship and help us put up the Advent decorations. I will be providing a lunch of pizza and salad for everyone who helps. The youth and children have committed to staying and helping to carry things down from the balcony storage area. Last year we were so fast that we were locking up the doors of the church by one thirty. We need folks to decorate trees, hang wreaths and greenery and make the church beautiful for the holiday season.

We have enough active members that there is no reason that anyone should be needed both days. I ask you to pick one of the days and come and help. I like to think of the decorating as my birthday party since my birthday is Monday. It will be nice to be off on that day after the busy weekend.

Lastly I want to remind everyone that this is the Bake Sale weekend. It is a wonderful way to buy goodies for the Thanksgiving break that were home made by someone else! The Women are raising money for their mission projects for the year. Bring some cash and enjoy some wonderful food on Sunday.

This is our last week of Unrelenting Grace: A Methodist Way of Life and we will be considering Healing. How do we heal after our lament? How to we move forward into a new season in the church and as the body of Christ?

I give thanks for you all and the way you love each other and me.
