November Missions
As October winds down, we are focused on the many ways that we impact the community in November. We are kicking off the Osage County Christmas Gifts drive this weekend. Osage County is one of the poorest in the state and we provide the gifts for every child in foster care for that county. That tradition began years ago when a man named Bill Waller attended Faith and he worked in the Osage County Foster Care system. We considered shifting to children in Tulsa County but we were told that Tulsa County has lots of churches with the resources to help but Osage County does not. Bill moved away a long time ago but we have continued this valuable partnership that impacts these vulnerable children. You can sponsor a child by buying gifts or donate money that the children and youth will use to shop for the kids.
Another mission that we have in November is the Thanksgiving sponsorship for Family Promise of Tulsa County. I have recently joined the Board for this ministry with homeless families. We were told several years ago that no one would help in November so we have taken this month every year to make sure that the families are provided for in our season of thanksgiving. We will be putting together baskets to be delivered to the families that are in our program. Information about how to do this will be shared soon.
Our Woman of Faith will also be having their Missions Bake Sale in November. This is always a great time to pick up some treats or even a meal that you don’t have to prepare. You can help by baking or cooking items to be sold or simply by purchasing.
Also, if you are attending the Charge Conference on Nov. 3rd, we are gathering healthy snacks for the students at the TU Wesley Foundation as our mission project for that night.
These are just some of the ways that we are being Thankful as we head into our season of remembering and giving thanks,
Love,
