Significant Sundays

Wow, you really showed up and showed off last Sunday for the Fall Fest! Many numbers are flying around but somewhere near 800 people joined us that evening. One woman said that she had been to three of these type events and that ours was definatly the best! I was humbled when I realized that some of our guests showed up just to eat the free food. My husband saw a person with three hot dogs in their bag. We are so often isolated from the fear of not having enough to eat. I am so glad that we could be a safe place for all kinds of people who had a great time. Todd Langley was such a blessing running to the store to purchase things that we ran out of.

This Sunday is significant in two ways. First, our worship services will be our All Saints Day celebration. We will honor and remember those in our congregation that crossed over into heaven since the first Sunday of November last year. We will be remembering our beloved Zach Martin which still aches today and probably will every day forever for those who loved him. Somehow, with time, we learn to live with and carry that pain. We will be remember twelve saints from our congregation who are with Jesus now. We celebrate their healing and restoration with their Creator.

For the first time, I will be setting up three stations in the sanctuary with butterfly paper. On this paper, you are invited to list names of people that have crossed over in to heaven who were significant to you but not part of our congregation. You are invited to bring your butterfly papers to the altar rail when you come down to communion. I invite you to place those names on the railing in remembrance.

Secondly, we are hosting Charge Conference at 4 pm in the Great Hall. This will be a time for business and celebration with our District Superintendent and five other churches. I am looking for help at noon to set up the tables for this event. If you would like to join us, click here to RSVP by Friday. We are up to 65 people right now. It should be a lovely evening.

As we move into next week and the election, I offer this prayer:

Lord direct us in your way in all things. Help our country’s divisions to be healed after this election season which drives so much fear and uncertainty into our hearts. May we move forward united in our hope for a thriving country, safe communities and equality for all. Amen.

Loving you all,
