Leadership Training Luncheon

I am so excited that this Sunday is our new Leadership Training Luncheon. We will be gathering in the Adult Wing at noon to kick off our time together and stay until 3 pm. I have invited anyone in the congregation who wants to to attend. Those who currently lead a group and those who will be serving next year were encouraged to participate. We have had 17 people sign up to take this first training class. Our Nominations team has planned for months. Since this is the first time that we have done this, it is the hardest. This is the first time that we have had leadership training in the fall. We are hoping that people who would like to help lead our congregation will be willing to be trained and prepared for effective leadership.

Under the new Simplified Accountable Model of leadership we do not have all the committee meetings that we have had previously. Instead we have a Leadership Team that fulfills the roles of Trustees, Finance, Staff Parish relations and Administrative Council. They discuss vision and strategy each time that they meet. We still have a Nominations committee but their role has shifted. They still invite others to lead but they are also tasked with training up a pool of potential new leaders. That is what we are doing this Sunday. Some of the topics that we will be covering are:

1) Crucial Conversations Training

2) Constructive Conflict with practice scenarios

3) Decision making pathway for Faith UMC

4) Understanding the Visitor Experience

5) Personality styles of leadership

Today is the last day that you can sign up to participate in this training. You can do this here. If you are currently leading a group or class, I encourage you to take this training. If you are interested in how things work at Faith and want to understand that, then I encourage you to sign up for the class. If you are considering membership or are a new member, you will learn a lot in this class!

Also exciting is a meeting on Tuesday with members of the cabinet and conference office for planning and visioning the new Bixby location of Faith UMC. This is the last step before applying for funding and creating our launch timeline. If you are interested in helping to launch the new location, please email me. I am creating a list of people who have indicated an interest in helping to start another location. God is doing amazing things and we are so blessed to be involved!
