Wednesday Nights Resume!
I am so excited about our Wednesday night programing launching for children and youth. We had 32 teens show up last week for their first night back together and to meet their new youth director. Our children are having fun learning and enjoying being together with several different age groups. Both of these ministries are still looking for volunteers and I invite you to share your gifts with these healthy and thriving ministries. We have all adapted to new ways of doing ministry rather than choosing not to meet, because we know the power of Christian community. In October, Judy Turner will be leading an adult group on Wednesday nights at 6:30 pm called “Finding Peace in an Anxious World.” It seems like a relative topic for all of us. You can get more information about this class in the newsletter that we are mailing to you on Tuesday.
WAIT! Did she just say newsletter???!!! Yes she did. Pastor Charla, Jonathon and I have been working very hard building our beautiful new newsletter. (While we know Neisa is enjoying retirement, we miss her!) Charla and I did the interviews and writing and Jonathon made it all look wonderful on paper with hours of formatting and inserting images. I know many of you have missed having a newsletter and you will be excited to have this new story driven publication. You will be receiving this newsletter each month. We are thankful to our volunteers who are returning Tuesday morning to fold, label and staple them so they can be mailed to you. So watch your mailbox!
This week has also been marked with stories of remembrance as we recognize the twentieth anniversary of that awful day in September that changed our country. I have wept at the stories and the photographs. I know that those of you who are old enough to remember can name the very place and activity that you were involved in when the news broke about the attacks. I also have to remind myself that there is a generation of young adults who have no memory of that day. To them it is a piece of history. We will lift up this milestone in our prayers on Sunday in worship. As we begin our new series on courage, it seems appropriate to remember those who ran into danger and gave their lives to help.
Lastly, on a personal note I am feeling so blessed to be baptizing our newest grandson Henry Thomas Huddleston on September 19th at the 11 o’clock service. He has been our joy during this difficult season of pandemic and we give thanks for him everyday. I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday friends.
Blessings,
Pastor Heather
