Resurrection and Retirement

Today is Good Friday and we are ready to see you at 7 pm this evening for a service of light and darkness around the crucifixion. One of our young adults, Leah Roughton told me as she went through the Holy Week Experience stations that Good Friday was her favorite service of the year. I was so surprised and impressed that I invited her to help lead the service. We will have four readers and they will share the story with us of the day that Jesus gave up his life because of the sins of the world. We invite everyone who attends to nail their confession papers to the cross and the sounds of those hammers echo with me until Easter morning.

SATURDAY FROM 10-12 WE WILL BE DECORATING FOR EASTER AND DONUTS WILL BE PROVIDED! (I didn’t want anyone to miss this opportunity :) Please join me in the sanctuary!

Due to the expectation of 70% chance of rain on Easter, we decided today to move the Sunrise Service back into the building. We will be in the Narthex (right outside the sanctuary in front of the glass wall) and there is no longer a need for you to bring your own chairs. The youth have been practicing this service for weeks and I look forward to rejoicing with them at 6:30 am. We will be serving Communion at that service only.

The bells will ring and the song leaders will sing and we will shout “Christ is Risen” this Sunday and I look forward to seeing the church full of people. The 9:00 am service will be our Traditional service and the 11:00 am service will be full of praise music. Victory over death is something we should always celebrate! All our services will be Live Streamed for those who can not make it here to worship with us.

Finally, I also want to celebrate my friend Laura Eldridge who has decided to retire after being in ministry with us for the last 19 years! She is going to continue through VBS in June and then take some much needed vacation time. We will celebrate Laura and her ministry on June 12th with sticky pink church lemonade (her choice) and cupcakes. The SPRC and I will have a giving tree for her and you are invited to leave a gift of love and travel money to bless her. Her contagious joy will be missed around the office but I know she will continue to be a wonderful member of this congregation.

We have a lot to celebrate Faith! Linda will be moving into the full time Children’s Director role and we know she will continue the excellent ministry that we have. We will be hiring a new part time Office Manager and a Summer Intern in May. If you or someone you know would be interested in one of these positions, please email me.

May your soul be renewed as we travel through the most important weekend of the year!
