October Opportunities

We are excited about all the new things that we have happening at the church for fall. This Sunday we are celebrating World Communion Sunday where Christians of all nations take Communion on the same day. It is an expression of unity in the body of Christ that is hoped for in our world. We will be taking Communion at both services. Another worship opportunity this Sunday Oct. 2nd is at Morningstar Baptist church. It is the Tulsa Together worship service at 6:30 pm. This is a service of churches all over the city who gather together for local unity in the body of Christ. If you go at 5:30, you can be part of small groups discussions about the unity of the city.

Our adult ministry has several new options:

  • The Young Adult game night is Sunday Oct 2nd at 6 pm in the youth room. Bring your favorite game and food will be provided.

  • Legacy class will be offered for 4 weeks starting Sunday with information regarding retirement, insurance, end of life information, wills, trusts and endowments. This short term series will be offered during the Sunday school hour in the Chapel.

  • A new women’s Bible study will be offered mid-month. “Common Grounds” will be taught by Jackie Wilkerson and Laura Eldridge.

  • Faith Field trips will be offered once a month with local opportunities for fellowship, education and a meal. Last week was the first one!

We also have several Mission opportunities in October that I hope you chose to participate in doing. The youth will be selling Christmas greenery to help fund their Spring Break Mission trip. We will be having an intergenerational mission event on Wednesday October 12th@6 pm to benefit the Emergency Infant Services of Tulsa. We will be sorting and packaging diapers for these infants at risk. And at the end of the month we have Trunk or Treat! This is one of our favorite events of the year.

Our new sermon series is called “Not Ashamed” and we will be considering those who helped shape our faith, how we share our values, and what we are called to next. I look forward to being with you.

Peace,

Faith Tulsa
